An extension for CODESYS SoftPLC systems for data exchange with OPC UA servers.

CODESYS EtherNet/IP Scanner is an additional option for controllers that are compatible with CODESYS. These devices are based on standard Ethernet ports to become EtherNet/IP scanners. The bus is configured from within the CODESYS Development System. Device configured in this way exchange real-time Ethernet messages with connected EtherNet/IP adapters.

This product allows for the creation of operating interfaces with CODESYS visualization for an HMI device (PC or panel), with data from CODESYS V2, CODESYS V3 and OPC UA controllers. The visualization is created with the CODESYS Development System (V3), the free IEC 61131-3 development system with a full-fledged visualization editor.

With the product “CODESYS Sensor App for Android”, the sensor data of from an Android smartphone can be sent to a CODESYS controller.

This CODESYS plug-in editor allows configuration of the OPC UA server, communication settings and setup of data to be exposed over OPC UA. The Matrikon FLEX OPC UA server stack needs to be implemented in the controller’s firmware and linked to the CODESYS Control Runtime System with an additional runtime system component (CmpMatrikonOPCUAserver).

The framework “SQL4CODESYS” allows direct communication between CODESYS controls and databases. With the database, large amounts of data can be efficiently managed, which opens up many new possibilities (detailed logging of information, flexible production by retrieving production parameters, recording of process values during production for traceability, interface to ERP and order management systems, …).

Compared to systems which communicate via an OPC interface, the software architecture is considerably simpler and more powerful with this approach!
