Extended Online Change support for configuration changes on productive applications – without stopping or restarting the application.
CODESYS Online Configuration Change extends the classic Online Change functionality with the ability to perform configuration changes on a running application – without having to stop or restart the application.
In the standard version, the Online Change feature is primarily limited to code changes in the application. For example, changes to the implementation, new GVLs, or new POUs.
CODESYS Online Configuration Change enables changes to application configurations that go beyond pure source code changes.
To clearly distinguish this new feature from the existing online change, the name “Online Configuration Change” is used.

Additional requirements | The respective features (alarm management, data sources, OPC UA, PROFINET) must be available and licensed on the target system. |
Restrictions | Not all configuration changes can be transferred via online change. The development system informs the user before download whether an online change is possible. |
Licensing |  Single device license: The license can be used on the target device/PLC on which the CODESYS runtime system is installed. Licenses are activated on a software-based license container (soft container), which is permanently connected to the controller. Alternatively, the license can be stored on a CODESYS Key (USB dongle). By replugging the CODESYS Key, the license can be used on any other controller. |
