CODESYS 4 is a web-based IEC 61131-3 development environment for industrial control and automation technology, available for Windows x64, Linux x64, and Linux ARM64.
CODESYS 4 is the new, web-based development environment for programming programmable logic controllers in accordance with IEC 61131-3. Users work directly in a modern browser and are not tied to any particular operating system. Existing libraries from the CODESYS Development System remain compatible and can continue to be used in parallel throughout the lifecycle – protecting existing know-how and investments.
With its open project storage, CODESYS 4 integrates seamlessly into modern software development workflows: version control systems, diff tools, and CI/CD pipelines can be used directly, and dependencies are managed reliably and transparently. An Extension Platform allows the environment to be extended modularly with additional functionality.
CODESYS 4 adapts flexibly to the way you work – from local single-user use and collaborative team development on a multi-user server through to full automation in scripts and CI/CD pipelines. This makes engineering more efficient, more collaborative, and future-proof throughout the entire product lifecycle.
Tested with current versions of Chromium based browsers (Chrome, Edge) and Mozilla Firefox

Restrictions
Application projects need an explicit conversion step between CODESYS Development System 3 and CODESYS 4
Certificate authentication and TLS encryption for PLC communication are not supported yet
Multi-user server operation (Linux) requires an external reverse proxy; recommended only in secure networks
Windows installer: local desktop use only, no server
Touch screen support is limited; small screens are not supported
